What the daily prediction is
Reading the day’s rashifal or horoscope is part of the morning routine for many people, alongside the news and the weather. OIOA’s daily prediction offers a short daily reading that is profile-based, meaning it uses your birth details rather than a generic sun-sign paragraph, and is calculated on your device.
It’s a common feature, available whichever community you choose, but it reflects a tradition that some people follow closely, some read for fun, and some don’t use at all. All are welcome.
What it’s based on
Traditional Indian predictive methods look at the relationship between your birth chart and the sky today. The single most important factor in daily readings is usually the Moon: its sign at your birth (your rashi, or Moon sign) and its position today. The Moon moves through a sign in about two and a half days and through a nakshatra in about one day, which is why it suits a daily reading.
Your profile, with your date, time and place of birth, lets OIOA work out your Moon sign and birth nakshatra. The day’s positions come from the same on-device calculations that power the panchang. OIOA follows the Jain Jyotish approach. The backbone is the relationship between your janma nakshatra and the selected day’s nakshatra: Tara Bala, Chandra Bala and the relationship between their planetary lords. Your rashi lord, the weekday, your birth Hora and traditional weekday–nakshatra yogas act as secondary modifiers. Tithi and paksha are deliberately not used.
What you see
Choose a profile and a date, and OIOA shows:
- an overall reading for the day,
- life areas such as work, finance, communication, travel and important decisions,
- better time windows and caution time windows, worked out from the local Hora and Choghadiya to show when in the day your personal pattern is stronger or weaker,
- the current nakshatra and rashi, and the factors behind the reading.
You can share a reading if you wish. Results are available directly, with no video unlock or blocked result.
Why on-device
Your birth details are personal. Because the prediction is worked out on your phone, the calculation doesn’t depend on sending your details to a server each day, and the feature works offline. The privacy policy explains exactly which profile data is stored and where, and how to delete it.
How to read it sensibly
We’d like to be straightforward:
- Predictions are traditional, not scientific. There is no scientific evidence that planetary positions determine daily events.
- Nothing is guaranteed. A reading that says “a good day for finances” is not financial advice; one that suggests caution is not a reason to worry.
- You are in charge. Use the reading as a prompt for reflection, if you find it helpful, and keep making decisions with your own judgement and the advice of people you trust.
- For health, money and legal matters, consult a professional. Please don’t delay medical care, change investments or make legal decisions because of a prediction. The disclaimer says this formally.
Profiles for family members
Prediction profiles are separate from your Family and Family Tree, and they’re stored on this phone only. You can add a profile for anyone you choose, such as a parent or a child, and switch between them. Please only add someone’s details with their agreement, and remember that for anyone under 18, the consent of a parent or lawful guardian applies, as explained in the privacy policy.
Moon sign or Sun sign?
Many newspaper horoscopes use the Sun sign (based on your birth date, in the Western tropical zodiac). Indian tradition more often uses the Moon sign in the sidereal zodiac. The two can differ: someone who is a Leo by Sun sign may be, say, Vrishchika (Scorpio) by Moon sign. If a reading in OIOA doesn’t match the sign you’re used to, that’s probably why.
If you don’t know your birth time
Your Moon sign can usually be found from the date and place of birth alone, unless the Moon changed sign that day. An approximate time is still useful. Readings that depend on the exact time will be less specific, and that’s normal.
Tell us what you think
Daily predictions differ across traditions and regions. If you’d like the reading explained differently, or your community uses another method, please tell us.
Common questions
Is the daily prediction the same for everyone with my sign?
No. It’s profile-based, so it uses your own birth details rather than only a Sun sign, which is why two people with the same Sun sign can see different readings.
Do I have to enter my birth time?
The more accurate the details, the more specific the reading. If you don’t know your birth time, an approximate time still lets OIOA work out your Moon sign in most cases.
Can I turn daily prediction off?
If you’d rather not use it, simply don’t open it, and you can delete the birth details from your profile at any time, as the privacy policy explains. The rest of OIOA works exactly the same.
Is it suitable for children?
Predictions are a traditional practice meant for adults’ own reflection. If a parent adds a child’s profile, the consent rules for under-18s in the privacy policy apply, and we’d encourage presenting predictions to young people as tradition, not fact.
Why does my reading mention the Moon so often?
Because in Indian tradition the Moon’s sign and nakshatra are central to daily readings. The Moon moves quickly, changing sign about every two and a half days, so it suits a reading that changes each day.
