Our commitment
OIOA’s purpose is to include everyone, and that includes people with disabilities. We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, in line with the spirit of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and India’s accessibility standards for digital content.
What we’ve done on the website
- Semantic structure: one main heading per page, a logical heading outline, landmarks for header, navigation, main content and footer, and a “Skip to content” link.
- Keyboard access: all menus, the language switcher, the FAQ and forms can be used with a keyboard, with visible focus outlines.
- Colour contrast: text colours are chosen to meet at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their backgrounds; community colours are used for wayfinding, never as the only way information is conveyed.
- Text alternatives: every meaningful image has alternative text, and every diagram has a full text version you can expand beneath it.
- Forms: every field has a visible label; required fields are marked in text; errors are announced and linked to the field.
- Language and direction: pages in Indian and regional languages declare their language, and Arabic and Urdu pages are laid out right to left, so screen readers pronounce them correctly.
- Reduced motion: we respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting.
- Resizable text and reflow: the layout adapts to small screens and zoom up to 400% without horizontal scrolling of the main text.
- No time limits and no auto-playing media.
Known limitations
- The native-language pages introduce OIOA in each language; the rest of the website is currently in English.
- Some tables of calendar data are wide; on small screens they scroll horizontally within a labelled region.
- We test with common screen readers and browsers but not every combination. [confirm testing done before launch]
The app
We’re working to make the App accessible too, including support for system font sizes and screen readers on Android and iOS. If you meet a barrier in the App, please tell us.
Report a barrier
If anything on this website or in the App is hard to use, please email [contact@oneindiaoneapp.com] with the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the device and assistive technology you use. We aim to respond within 15 days.
